I hope everyone is enjoying their summer! Is it even summer yet? Yes,no...I think so! My family and I are gearing up for this big move back to the States! I'm not sure how many garments I can squeeze in before the packers/movers come. I'm hoping to get at least two more garments done before the big move!  I do know you ladies have been inspiring me all across the board with your awesomeness (is that a word) LOL!  Well ladies just wanted to check in with you. Have a wonderful and safe weekend! Be blessed and nothin' less and continue to stay fearlessly fierce!

A little peplum love! V8815

Could have used an FBA for the girls, a muslin *gasps* would have caught that but  C' est la vie !
(such is life)

I know I've been M.I.A these past two weeks; however, not without good cause that is! My hubby's ship is back in from deployment, oh yeah, so I've been boo'ed up so to speak LOL! Okay, but back to why you clicked on this post: A little peplum love V8815.. I have fallen in love with these little tops! They are little tops, but give so much more in style. I've seen the whose who of celebs, to blogger fashionistas rockin' these "peplum" tops with such style and grace, and I knew I had to give this style a go. I'm quite glad that I did!

Heading to the movies with my three loves for a family date night!! I was told by my five year old that I was
stunning, okay, maybe more on the lines of pretty, but who's taking notes lol!  Although I do think the boy has exquisite
 taste hehehe!

This was a fairly easy pattern as the pattern depicts "Very easy vogue pattern". For the fabric I used a stretch cotton twill from fabric.com, which was everything lol! Seriously this fabric was as my sister says the bomb.com lol! I used pre-packaged bias tape, and  also swapped a regular zipper in favor for an invisible zipper. That I had to do over twice! Let's just say after that ordeal ,I broke down and ordered another invisible zipper foot.
Sorry for the wrinkles I forgot to get a photo of the back.We were running late for
the movies so I took this afterwards...
I did add an 1 1/2 inch thinking I was recreating the wheel, umm no LOL! It looked as if I was wearing an over sized tutu so not the look I was going for lol! Thankfully, I had just enough fabric to cut out another bodice piece again, yes please! After re-cutting the bodice pieces again, I added an inch and that seemed to do the trick, sigh!

New Coach bag gifted by the hubby!

Alright lovelies that's my time! Oh the 30 day challenge you ask? Yeah, that's not going work, yeah umm not working lol....I just don't work good under pressure, so I have to just do it and not talk about it! If that makes any kind of sense... Thanks for all the well wishes, I really was doing good until the hubby came home...That man likes to cook and eat, but I told him I am getting back on plan, and that's exactly what I tend to do... I hope you ladies all have a beautiful, safe, fun filled weekend! Be blessed and nothin' less and continue to stay fearlessly fierce!

Street chic! V8742

How I will style the dress for my up coming wedding anniversary!
I've been talking a lot about being excited that my hand made garments are now starting to coincide with my RTW style, which is important, right? In order to want to wear your hand made garments it has to be a style, or color that reflects your RTW style in order to want to wear them, yes? So, where does the title post "Street Chic" comes into play?

Nine West  nude pumps, which happen to be extremely comfortable
Well, I have been trying to define my style, or verbalize my style and kept coming up with generic responses...That is until, "Pintrest"! Yes, Pintrest.  I happen to stumble across someones pins/boards who happen to name it appropriately  "street chic". That title hit me like a ton of bricks, okay not really, but for the sake of theatrics lets go with it lol... So to that, thank you Pintrest  for my Aha moment lol! Okay, so let's talk about V8742, which I have reviewed earlier this year. I won't bore you with another long review on this dress; however, I was able to go down two sizes from my previous dress that I made earlier this year, woo hoo!
V8742 with sleeveless RTW cardi which Butterick has a new pattern for.
"My street chic" look

On this version, I decided that I wanted something sexy to wear for my upcoming wedding anniversary, that would also play nice with my "street chic" RTW style..So, I decided to make view A without the sleeves, and seeing that I already had some black ponte knit pre -washed and ready to go, this was a win win for me.. The dress used about a 2 yards of fabric, and I used self fabric for my bias binding instead of purchased. I  didn't have any on hand..

I also used clear elastic instead of the stay tape in this version, and I loved the sleeker look on the inside of the dress. I love, love this dress and what I love most is that it is true to my RTW style... Well, that's my time lovelies have a fantastic weekend!  Oh and before I forget, thanks to everyone who took the time to encourage me on my 30 day challenge it really means a lot! Be blessed and nothin' less and continue to stay fearlessly fierce!

June challege (non-sewing related)

Ladies, Summer is fast approaching here, or at least for some that is! Well, I have been asked several times about my weight loss and just how did it come off so quickly. Well, I am not at my goal yet, but I have made progress, yet in still I should be further along, sigh! Now, this is where the "June Challenge" comes into play...

It's really to encourage myself and hopefully to encourage others who may want a little encouragement as well! I plan for the month of June to eat as clean as possible, no sugars( except from fruit) no flour, bread, etc...Eating veggies, lean meats(fish, chicken, eggs etc) and healthy fats and water, water!. I also plan to boost my workouts from 3 days a week to 5 days a week for the month of June...

So, what am I exactly trying to accomplish in a months time? Hopefully, I will be leaner, shed a couple more pounds and just keep motivated while reaching goal... I hope you will join me, or simply root me on. All the encouragement will be welcomed! I have taken my measurements, weight, and photos.. Monday morning June 4, 2012 starts my challenge..I am excited, if not nervous, nervous because I have put myself out there, so now I have to do it lol! But that's the kind of push I needed, so I am ready for this challenge! BRING IT ON!
