Black and white trend...M6073 again!

I actually wore this for Memorial Day, added my new favorite
coral bag (tar-jay aka target) for a pop of color...

I am totally in love with black and white, and together to me just says fierce, dharlin'! Although being 8 months pregnant, I still like to feel sassy and a little bit jazzy! So, I knew that after my last maxi dress 6073 that I had to make another. I went shopping in my stash and found this ITY jersey from Fabricmart fabrics that I scored for $3.50 a yard, so that is a winner in my book, yass honey!
Spring 2013 black and white trend!

Again, this dress was exceptionally easy; however, I decided to go size this dress down from the previous dress. As I found the first dress to be a touch to big, especially the bodice area, which led me to having to alter the dress, ugh!  Unlike the previous version I decided to add the binding to the dress, and I really  liked that addition. I know I said that I thought that the binding was to fiddly, but the trick is you have to take your time at the "V" in the back and it will work out perfectly.
I love how the back provides much coverage, but yet you still
feel a little jazzy!
Binding with twin needle stitching...

I made this dress in about four hours including the pre-treating the fabric, cutting, and sewing with breaks in between, hey, this pregnant lady has to eat lol! I wore the dress all day Memorial day and it was totally comfortable. I can't truly say that I'm done with this pattern yet, I may just have one more in me, we shall see! I forgot to mention that like the previous dress, I added the elastic in the shoulders; however, I omitted the elastic in the waist and all is well, even with all this stomach girth :)...
Look at all that stomach, whew!
Well, ladies that's all I have for now! I hope you are having a wonderful week..Be blessed and nothin' less and continue to stay fearlessly fierce!

Made a summer dress M6559 for my favorite girl, my mama!

The famous M6659

So, I finally got around to making my mama a sundress, the first thing that I have made and had to fit for someone other than myself may I add.. M6559, the dress that everyone and their mama has made, seriously lol! I made this pattern ; however, in a shirt form last year, I believe. This is such a great pattern to learn fitting on others, seeing that the dress has only two pattern pieces to the dress. My mama and sissy came down in March and we were able to do the fitting for the dress, and it only took me two additional months to get it shipped off to Florida lol!
Gone then mommy!

My mama and I made a trip to Hancock's Fabric, her first time there and she absolutely loved it! We scored this ITY jersey on the clearance aisle, and I believe we paid less than five dollars a yard for this fabric, yass! We did have to alter the pattern slightly to make sure that it fit my mama very womanly curves, I ain't mad at you girl, lol! We used the size 22 pattern and added about 3" to the side seams, raised the neckline about 1", we also stabilized the shoulder seams with clear elastic to ensure that the dress would not grow. Don't you hate when that happens in RTW, ugh!
Close up of fabric and twin needle stitching on neckline *pay no attention to my finger
in the way lol!

My mama received the dress last week and stated that she absolutely loved it, yass! Her hubby also said that she looked gorgeous, great hubby I tell ya! I will say that I enjoyed the challenge of sewing for someone other than myself, although I don't think it will become second nature anytime soon lol...What can I say I am a selfish seamstress, but I will do anything for my favorite girl aka my mommy!

Well, lovelies I hope you all are enjoying your weekend and eating all the BBQ and treats that you can eat, or is that me lol! Be blessed and nothin' less and continue to stay fearlessly fierce!

So I gave in and made myself something for summer, M6073

M6073

So, this dress M6073 which is now OPP(out of print) now has been cut out and ready to sew for about a month now, but I just wasn't feeling sewing myself at the moment. I'm glad that I did because now that I have done, I really like it. It's comfortable and it fits this big ol' baby bump, lol! I even picked up more thread today to cut out another dress, yay! Okay, back to the review this is a simple pullover dresses A, B, C, D are above mid-knee, mid-calf or ankle length with bodice and skirt gathered into front midriff with elasticized raised waist and stitched hems; dress B has midriff; dress D has contrast bodice and front midriff.
8 months pregnant and I am so over this pregnancy thing, lol!
I made a size bigger than my normal size trying to account for the bump; however, I think that it  may be just a tad bit big in the bust area. Yeah, I could have fixed this, but I really don't have the energy for all of that there lol... I didn't really use the instructions; however, I did use them for the band as I found out that the extra piece is used as a facing for the inside of the dress, so that was cool.. I also loved the crossover bodice it provides great coverage. Now, I didn't like the binding option, which people mentioned in previous reviews regarding the "v" neck binding in the back, so I used a twin needle to remedy the binding on the fiddly "v" in the back..

This dress has a border print at the bottom, but the dress is so long that
can't see it, sigh!

This dress only took about two hours minus the cutting, because the dress had been cut eons ago lol! There wasn't anything tricky about the construction, the "v" neck part in the back could prove to be a little temperamental, just take your time and it should work out well... I also want to add that I did add clear elastic to the shoulder seams per instructions, I love the gathered effect, and this also helps stop stretching of the garment. However, I didn't add the elastic to the waist.. I do plan to make this dress at least once more, so check this space( I've been wanting to say that lol) I know how silly, lol! Well that's all I have to share for now. I hope you lovelies enjoyed your weekend..Be blessed and nothin' less and continue to stay fearlessly fierce!

My little princess first dress made by mommy! S1701

Simplicity 1701
I didn't quite make the deadline on making myself something for Mother's day; however, I was able to finish up my little girls first dress made by mommy *tear*, lol! It's those darn pregnancy hormones, I tell ya! Okay this dress was a dream to sew, minus how the instructions instruct you to sew the lining into the bodice; for me that equaled a hot mess, sorry no beuno! So, I had to ignore their instructions and just lined the dress as I line most of my bodices and so forth..
Fully lined Bemberg Rayon...And pay no mind to my ironing board cover, I just
can't be bothered right now to replace it, lol!

The fabric is a cotton sateen, a left over remnant from a skirt I made two years ago S2451. So this dress was practically little to no cost, except for the purchase of lining and the ribbon, which cost little to nothing.. Did I say how much I enjoyed making this dress? Like seriously, I truly enjoyed making this dress. The pattern only calls for the bodice to be lined, but I wanted to line the skirt portion as well.. I also added an invisible zipper in place of the lapped zipper, just my personal preference. However, on the next dress, yes there will be plenty more, lol! I plan to add button placket in the back.

Invisible zipper! That zipper is truly amazing! Yes, I toot my own horn from time to time
lol!

I hope everyone enjoyed their Mother's day! I know I sure did! Well, that's all for me ladies enjoy the rest of your day! Be blessed and nothin' less and continue to stay fearlessly fierce!

A little of this and that!

Hey y'all it's seems as if this pregnancy is flying by, yay! I am so ready to meet my baby girl and get my body back, yes I am! It's soooo many things that I want to get to, but this bump, I tell ya! Is something serious lol! Seeing that I am having my baby girl in the midst of summer I've kinda skipped right over summer and started planning for fall. Yep, fall lol! I been really getting into this shift dress movement, like I've been seeing some serious dresses that has my heart beating fast. For example this one:

This fitted sheath dress is the business, seriously!

I purchased this off fabric.com last week. I was
leaning on it being a casual blouse, but now I thinking
a shift dress, we shall see!
I have a few more pinned on my pintrest boards, but I've been seeing some great sheath dresses around blogs as well.  I picked up a few shift  dress patterns this weekend from Jo-Ann's during the Simplicity .99 sale.  Let's see what else have I been up to? Oh, yeah! I finally finished up my mama's maxi dress M6559 ,that should have only taken an hour took me a month to finish!  I know lol! I'm pregnant and moving slow, that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it lol! I've also caught the baby sewing bug, and can I say that I am hooked! Like somebody stage an intervention hooked, lol! I've almost finished my princess first little dress; it is just darling, and I have several others planned...
I've actually been on pattern frenzy here lately, must slow down lol!

My little princess first dress, look at how little the pattern
pieces are, awwwww!

I think after I finish up with my little princess dresses, than I will move on to blazers, yes, blazers in the summer time honey, but for fall! Because remember I am skipping over summer sewing, and moving right along, yes I am! I purchased this beautiful cobalt blue suiting while my mama was here visiting and I plan to make M6711; however, I will muslin it out to make sure I like it before cutting into my beautiful cobalt blue fabric. Well, that's all I have for now ladies! Be blessed and nothin' less and continue to stay fearlessly fierce!
