Snap Chat Monday!

S1589 I hadn't finished the top yet, hence the
raw edge on the collar and armholes...
I  wasn't sure what I thought about S1589, but I've worn it twice since having made it.. So I guess it's a go:)! I will do a proper review shortly when I can get better pictures..

Posted this pic on my Instagram on Sunday, this is what I
wore to a BBQ..

I also had an entire day to myself on Saturday( thanks to the husband), woo hoo! I did hit Jo-Ann's up bright and early and purchased two pieces of fabric, one of which I was so excited about; however, it became a wadder :(... Ain't no body got time for that, right? LOL!

I was so excited for this cream knit to become M6556.
That I came home and treated the fabric, only to hate it :(!

Made tailors tacks for the first time; oh yeah, the slim fast and oatmeal are my make shift
pattern weights lol!
I had a vision for this M6556 pattern, but I absolutely hated it on me, it was a complete failure for me.. I've tried to like the top because it's made well, but nope I hate it!
I even made a neck and arm binding; however, I
loathe the way this looks on me :(

I hope to get a few more tops made for summer, but I also am thinking shorts, jumpers, and dresses, decisions, decisions. We shall see! Have a wonderful week ladies,  enjoy life, and  don't stress over the small things and be the change that you desire.....Be blessed and nothin' less and continue to stay fearlessly fierce!

Sunday Sewing Happenings

I've managed to finish up V8968 this afternoon. I'm really in need of summer tops, so I cut out S1589 while I was in my sewing room. I hope to get started on that today or at least sometime this week..  For the S1589 top I picked up this yummy Challis fabric from Hobby Lobby for about $6yd, which was great considering I only needed a yard and half. However, I bought 2 1/2 yards because I knew I wanted to lengthen the top a bit...
I'm making view "A"
I also posted on my instagram account this week a picture of my fabric loot and goodies I picked up while fabric shopping on Friday..  I love this fabric! Joann's labeled it as a denim fabric, but I think it feels more twillish, yes that is a word, lol..... I think it is screaming to become some type of cigarette pant, and I think I have a pattern in mind. I was thinking maybe S1371, right? I only bought the pattern for the pants, which I love!

What else? Oh yeah, I also purchased a few patterns this weekend that were on sale.. Nakisha from Sew Crafty Chemist  mentioned this pattern as one that she was going to make. It made me to  remember the one that Erica B made, which I loved her version. However, it also led me to remember my three, yes three failed attempts at this pattern! But in my defense I was pregnant with my daughter and believed to be under the influence of having pregnancy brain, lol! I have to remake this pattern because I refuse to let a pattern, especially one rated easy defeat me.. Does anyone else feel the need to remake a failed pattern, especially one rated easy? Or is it just me lol!

I hope you all are enjoying your weekend, and that your machines are cranking out nothing but lovelies! Be blessed and nothin' less and continue to stay fearlessly fierce!

Working on V8968

Things have been pretty quiet around these parts lately, with school getting out for my boys and then we took a trip to see my husbands family.  Also, I just didn't know where I was with the whole blogging thing. I mean don't get me wrong I love the community and all, but I just didn't feel that love for it that I felt when I first started blogging. But then it dawned on me that things changed, that I'd changed... Change is necessary but not all change is for the better, right? I am just speaking for myself, but I am yearning to get back to actually sharing, not only the finished product but the in between product as well ( I hope I'm making sense :)... Some of my favorite bloggers really draw me in to their process and I want to get back to that in some way... Okay now that I've spilled MY tea LOL...  Here's the dress that I've been working on:

I have been diligently working on a dress, but I will be wearing as a top, ummm a short dress/ top and these thighs= no bueno!  I've been working on V8968, which is labeled very easy by Vogue.. This is a very easy dress in theory; however, the dang facing for the hem gave me the blues... I have yet to slip- stitch the hem facing in place as per the instructions (that hand sewing will get you every time:).
The fabric I purchased last year some time
on, which is some type of poly

Whenever I tried to get the facing pinned to the hem band the fabric started shifting and would not lie flat, almost as if the facing should have been reduced a bit.. I don't know, maybe it was me... I still need to hand sew the facing in place, as well as attach the neck facing. I was going to opt to do a binding, but preferred not to see the stitching from sewing on a binding, where as a facing I could just tack to the shoulder seams... I am hoping  to get finished by the weekend. I'm moving slower, but I'm actually enjoying the pace.. As always y'all Be blessed and nothin' less and continue to stay fearlessly fierce!
